Frequently asked questions
What is spin testing?
Every completed arrow is spin tested to verify the shaft, insert, and point rotate true. Any arrow with excessive runout is identified before it reaches the customer.
What is spine alignment and indexing?
Carbon arrows naturally have a stiff and weak axis. During a Premium build, each shaft is manually evaluated to identify its natural spine orientation before assembly. Vanes are then installed in a consistent orientation across the entire set to promote repeatable arrow performance.
What is weight matching?
Each arrow and its components are weighed during the build process. Components are arranged where possible to minimize finished-weight variation across the set. Final weights and variation are recorded on the build card.
What jig do I use?
I build every arrow using the OMP Phoenix Jig to ensure repeatable vane placement and consistent results from one build to the next.
Helical, offset, left, right, which one should I choose?
Most compound bows naturally spin arrows to the left due to string construction. For that reason, I recommend a left offset or left helical for most hunting setups. Certain broadheads or custom string builds may benefit from a different configuration, and I'm happy to recommend the best option for your setup.
What is a build card?
A build card will have all your arrow data on it. Arrow make and spine, finished weight, inserts used, vanes used, wraps used, weight variance, cut length, FOC and build date.
Can I provide my own components?
Yes. You may provide all or part of the build materials. You only pay the selected labor package for customer-supplied materials.
Can Iron Antler source everything?
Yes. Materials sourced by Iron Antler are billed at cost plus a 10% sourcing and handling fee. No materials are ordered until you approve the final quote.
What is the turnaround time?
Turnaround depends on material availability and the current build queue. An estimated completion date will be included with your quote before payment.
